    Founder Principal

    Mrs. J Deol was an alumnus of Lady Mcleggan College and Govt. College of Lahore. She started the Minerva Academy in August 1955 at Shimla. The Academy was then shifted to Jullunder Cantt then to Sector 3 and later to Sector 15 Chandigarh and finally to its present location in Daon. The Academy was named after ‘Minerva’ the Roman Goddess of War and Wisdom. All the boys coached in the first batch were selected. This established the reputation of the institute from the start which increased day by day. Since she could not cope with the huge task single handed, Col. Deol took premature retirement for her help.

    Col. Deol, M.A. History from Govt College, Lahore was a great sportsman of his time. He appeared before S.S.B. once for selection in 1944 and was selected as an emergency commissioned officer in the British Indian army. He remained posted in Iraq (Middle East Sector) for the full period of the World War II and attained the rank of Captain. After the war he appeared for the Indian Civil Service (I.C.S) and served for 2 ½ years. He then appeared for regular commission in 1946 and was selected. He earned many outstanding A.C.R’s & commanded regiments for 9 years. He was chief instructor, ASC Centre North, the biggest in northern India for 3 years. Col Deol was well known for his unique & captivating technique of coaching, full of thrill and laughter.

    Daughter of Col. And Mrs. Deol; B.A. Hons (Eng), M.A. (Psych), M.A. (History) and P.G. Public Admin from the International Institute of Public Administration, Paris, France. After retirement from the IAS in the rank of Chief Secretary, is the current Director of the SSB Wing of Minerva Academy.

    It is a common misconception that SSBs do not prefer candidates who have undergone training. Many candidates think that with bookish and hear-say knowledge, they can clear the SSB without any help. While this may be true for some gifted candidates, but it is still recommended that a candidate undergo proper training to prepare for the upcoming SSB interview.

    During the training at Minerva Academy a student is assessed on every aspect of the testing. Over the progression of the 10 day training at Minerva, a candidate is able to identify and pinpoint any shortcoming or problem areas that may hold him back.

    More the 80% of the candidates who come to us suffer from one kind of fear or another like stage fright, public speaking, physical testing etc. At Minerva each candidate confronts his fears head on and overcomes it completely over the 10 day training.

    Our pledge

    We will be offering all wards of our defence forces heroes (men and women of the Indian armed forces who have either been martyred or disabled in any theatre of encounter / war) a full scholarship including boarding and lodging for any of the courses offered at Minerva Academy. We pledge to provide them with the finest training available for entry into the armed forces, by the best, most experienced and highly qualified faculty at Minerva. We pledge to help them emulate their noble parents, or go even further by becoming commissioned officers in the Indian Armed Forces.
